Jesus Bring the Rain

I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I've gone through?
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You?
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm.
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray...

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory.
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain,
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain!

I am Yours regardless of
The clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain.
You who made a way for me
By suffering, Your destiny,
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray...

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain!

Holy, holy, holy

This is a song from MercyMe. If you haven't heard it yet, I highly recommend you check it out. It doesn't get much time on public airways, but we've been hearing it for months on satellite radio (Go Sirius!!). Lindsay and I heard it the other day, and she said to me, "I'm glad Jesus brought rain into our life for a while". I was stunned she said that. I've been thankful for the rain for some time now, but the pain Lindsay has dealt with in the last couple of years was too much for her at times. She and God have made their peace and now Lindsay is thanking Him for the rain because the blessings are so worth the pain. So she and I talked about it for a bit and we recounted all the blessings we got for getting wet in the rainstorm of all rainstorms (for our life, that is). Without the rain, we wouldn't have:

The college kids from FBO, Amanda, Stacy, Adrienne, Emi, Encounter and all our new friends there, our homeless ministry, the Yarbrough family and my best boy Griffy, the Teel family, the Henderson family, the Smith family, the Wood Family, the Howard family, namely the daughters of my heart, Courtney and Paige. But the most important thing the rain gave me was a deeper understanding of how God's love works, how supremely powerful and un-deserved grace is and how crying out to God always results in Him coming to your rescue.

Amanda the bestest nurse ever...and Elisha agrees!

Stacy, stacinator, Big Stac :)

Emi and Ade...the two prettiest sisters ever!

Griffy and Blakey snow-flakey

Peyton and Weston

Peyton and Elisha at the Make A Wish office

Court :)

The college clan at our usual place. It's a good thing God is everywhere because we are always at Whataburger to meet with Him!

Thank you God for the rain and the blessings and lessons that remain long, long, long after the storms have passed.
